This SE-SEM micrograph shows an example of the ubiquitous low-magnesium calcite microcrystals that characterize many ancient limestones. This example comes to use from a core sample from the Brown-Snowplow 1-5 well in the Michigan Basin. This micrograph was collected by Matthew Runk, an undergraduate student enrolled in the Advanced Earth Materials course, and CPCL researcher, Mohammed Al-Musawi.
