Saeed Norouzi

As a Ph.D. student, I am investigating dolomites to gain insights into possible variations in ancient environmental conditions, climate patterns, and marine fluids as compared to modern conditions. To achieve this, I utilize a variety of techniques, including geochemical analysis, petrography, and fieldwork. My educational background includes a Bachelor’s degree in geology and a Master's degree in sedimentary petrology with a specialization in the study of dolomitization.

Research

Yes! The rocks are talking if we know how to listen. Sedimentary rocks often preserve evidence of the geologic past, including extinctions, evolutionary changes, and past climate conditions. With the right method this evidence can be extracted and interpreted to increase our understanding of the ancient past and how it relates to modern conditions.

Currently, I am studying a specific form preservation: mimetic dolomitization. This preservation occurs in carbonate rocks during early diagenesis, where a carbonate precursor is converted into dolomite while still preserving the original depositional texture.

I am always open to collaboration and discussion regarding dolomite and carbonate diagenesis, so feel free to reach out via email anytime. Let’s talk!
